Creep rupture tests of aluminium rectangular-section bars with and without typical V notches (either in thickness or width direction) were performed at 230℃. The effects of the working conditions of V notch on the creep deformation and the creep rupture strength were investigated. The creep rupture strength of speciments with V notch revealed notch strengthening effect. The creep rupture strength of the specimen with machined notch was slightly higher than that of the pressed one except at the high stress levels. The results of the static tensile test at room and elevated temperature and those of the creep rupture test were compared. It was shown that the creep rupture strength could be estimated by plotting the data of above three kinds of tests on the master rupture curve in this range of experiment.
