An experimental study on the atomization of liquid was performed by using the convergent ultrasonic vibrators which were immersed in liquid, aiming at a remarkable increase of efficiency of fine atomization. The results obtained are as follows; (1) The cause of atomization is a split of liquid film by the cavitation air bubbles. (2) The size of liquid droplet produced by means of an ultrasonic atomization is very fine and uniform, and it becomes as small as a tiny fog particle when the frequencies become high enough. (3) The equation of droplet size distribution dn/dx=ax^αΓ^κ (bx)exp(-cx^β) is eminently suitable for all droplet sizes, where n is the number of liquid droplets of diameter x. (4) The relation between frequencies and the mean diameters of droplets d^^- was obtained.
