The Behaviour of the Temperature-Velocity Fluctuations and the Turbulent Prandtl Number in the Developing Thermal Turbulent Boundary Layer on a Flat Plate

This paper presents an experimental discussion on the behaviour of temperature-velocity fluctuations and turbulent Prandtl number in the thermally developing turbulent boundary layer on a plate. The wall temperature was step-wise varied along the plate having an unheated starting section. The fluctuations were directly measured by a hot-wire anemometer in three different velocity fielos. The thermal-velocity fluctuation <v't'>^^^-_a was plotted with the thermal gradient (∂T_a/∂y)_y=L in the same field of the turbulence √<u^^-'>^2,√<v^^-'>^2,<u'v'>^^^-. It is shown that the thermal diffusivity ∈_h and turbulent Prandtl number Pr_t at the equi-distant points from the wall are considered to be nearly constant.
