• In this paper the transient response of an elastic half space to a non-uniformly moving point load is considered and a solution procedure is developed for the problem of moving loads. By using the well-known Cagniard's technique, a general solution of displacement is obtained in the form of integral for the inner and the surface responses. Then, the title problem is reduced to a simple consideration on "Arrival Time Function, " the behaviour of which governs the range of integration. The solution obtained here should be applied to miscellaneous problems of a moving load, the speed of which is non-uniform and largely arbitrary.
