A method is presented in which the Fourier transform is modified so as to satisfy initial conditions, and make it applicable to the seismic analysis of multi-degree-of- freedom systems. Furthermore, a systematic error analysis of the Fourier transform are eliminated by imposing initial conditions on the response. If the natural frequency is in a quite low region, the error gets larger as the damping ratio becomes smaller. When the denominator of the transfer function approaches zoro, the error becomes tremendously larger than expected.
