• In engineering design processes, there are many cases where our attention is attracted to a special narrow area of a drawing of a mechanism. At that time, it is permissible to relegate the rest of the drawing to a rough sketch. Therefore, it is necessary that some succinct representations of an object be prepared in the data structure for such a case. In this paper, four types of succinct representations of 3-D objects are presented first and problems associated with them are discussed. A method of storing fundamental data without redundancy into secondary storage, such as disks, and reproducing the data structure from such fundamental data is discussed.
