Human genome project will quickly move on to the post genome sequencing era, including single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) analysis, functional genomics, and proteome analysis. In the post Human Genome sequencing era, further development of analytical technology for DNA is highly required for high-throughput screening of disease-causing gene from 3.2 Gbp human genome and high-speed analysis of genetic polymorphism, having ca. 5-10 million sites of SNPs on an individual genome. We have been challenged to develop the novel technology for ultra-fast DNA analysis by the microfabricated chip-based integration of all processes required for human genome analysis. Towards post genomic sequencing era, laser confocal fluorescence detection system has been developed for the imaging of single DNA molecule migrating in the microchannel on a microchip. The separating process for a mixture of DNA fragments is visualised and the conditions for ultra fast separation of DNA fragments are optimized. Micrifabricateted chip technology realised fast separation of peptide and protein. The nanochip technology coupled with AFM (atomic force microscopy) has been developed for the manipulation of single DNA molecule.
