• Between 1988 and 1990 a series of workshops was held at RERF to discuss future directions of the RERF research programs. Specific recommendations were made in such areas as radiation sensitivity, immunology, radiation carcinogenesis and aging. An. institution-wide review is now under way to determine long-term future research plans at RERF on the basis of the recommendations from the workshops. The formulation of any new major research programs will depend on the decisions made during this review. However, there are several important areas in which the need for future studies is clearly indicated.
