Sintering behavior, crystallographic structure and dielectric properties of the nonstoichiometric Ba_<(1-x)>(Zn_<l/3>, Ta_<2/3>)O_3, with 0≦X≦0.04 complex perovskite system were investigated. The sintered density was improved by reducing Ba concentration. The degree of Zn and Ta ordering and lattice distortion were promoted by reducing Ba concentration. It was assumed that these phenomena were caused by lattice defects ascribed to nonstoichiometric structure. As a result, at X=0.01 ,Q value reached above 13000 (at 10 GHz) with sintering for 4 h , however, above X= 0.01, Q value was greatly decreased, in spite of saturation in Zn-Ta ordering.
