Production of Secondary Charged Particles in ^<12>C-Nucleus Reactions at 4.5 Ge V per Nucleon

The dependence of the normalized mean multiplicity, R7? and redtrced multiplicity 7?.5 on theenrgy of the projectile in the energy range x(2 -200)A GeV, has been investigated. Furthertnore,the dependence of R,q and R5 on the mass of the projectile and target nucleus in 4.5A GeV "C-nucleus interactions have also been studied. The variations of R,? and R5 are found to increaselinearly with increasing value of the mtrltiplicity of charged secondaries produced in 4.5A GeV/c"C-nucleus collisions. The results reveal that the nornaalised and reduced multiplicities of relativistic charged particles depend strongly on the projectile nrass. The results reveal that thenature of the dependence of R,q on various paranaeters are identical with those obtained in highenergy hadron-nucleus interactions. Finally, the values of the normalised rnoments of the multiplicity distributions of charged shower particles for different groups of emulsion nuclei werefound to be nearly the same.
