The jump rate of light interstitials between neighboring sites with energy differenceis examined on the basis of Kondo's theory which takes account of the non-adiabaticresponse of conduction electrons to the motion of interstitials. The average of thejump rate is calculated by adopting simple models for the energy distribution and theoccupation probability of sites. It is found that the average jump rate at low temperatures becomes constant whenthe occupation probability of sites is independent of their energies, whereas itdecreases with decreasing temperature when thermal equilibrium can be attained.
