A theory of' degenerate ['otrr-xvsrve tnixing (DFXN7N4) in the low density excitatiota limit ttt thesemicondtrctor band edge is developed on the basis of' flue bosonic representation of tl?e electronhole Hanailtonian. By ?tccotrnting f'or tlae exciton-exciton interactions of tlue loxvest order we arriveat the practical ['ew-level detasity tnatrix description of' the third-order excitonic noralinearity. The developed theory accotrnts phenotmenologically f'or the phase space filling, and excitatioraindtrced dephasing efl'ects and xvell reprodtrces the restrlts of the recent 11)FWIIVI experiuaaentsin high- and loxv-fineness taaicrocavity. We show tlaat polarization-sensitive f'otrr-xvave naixingzaaeastrrernents enable to discriraainate the contribtttions to the DFXVNI signal f'rotn tlue excitonexciton interactions of different synaataaetry.
