Persistent ctrrrents in thin toroidal carbon nanottrbes (TCN's) are linearly periodic ftrnctionsof magnetic flux ((/)) with a period (/110 (hc/e). This restrlt is a ttaanifestation of the Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect. They depend on the toroid structure (strch as ctrrvature, raditrs, and height),the tenaperattrre, and the Zeeman effect. The curvattrre effect dtre to the rnisorientation of 7T-electron orbitals affects the electronic states, and thus the persistent ctrrrent. Conseqttently, mostof armchair-zigzag TCN's exhibit diaraaagnetism. The current arnplittrde is inversely proportionalto the toroid radius. A tetmperature increase significantly redtrces the persistent ctrrrent, whilethe periodical AB oscillation remains trnchanged. lVIeasurenaents of the persistent currents couldbe trsed to verif'y the predicted electronic states and the AB effect.
