The ternperature dependence of the static spin suscepti bility, X, and NIVIR relaxation rate, T.- ",of S : l /2 Heisenberg two-leg ladder systerms have been studied based on the NIa.jorana ferrnionrepresentation of the S : l /2 Heisenberg spin Harniltonian introduced by Shelton, Nersesyanand Tsvelik (Phys. Rev. B 53 (1996.) 8521). It is shown that in the case of SICL12O3, we can fitthe experimental data of' X and T. in terrrts of the massive IN/Iajorana ferrnion excitation withmass m : 440 K to resolve the aj- parent discrepancy of the spin gap activation energies bc tweenX and T.- '.
