First-Order Phase Transition in the S=1 Quantum Spin Chain with Partial Integrability

The zero-temperature magnetization curve of the S : l antiferrotnagnetic XXZ chain withpartial integrability is studied by the Bethe ansatz, combined with a numerical renorrnalization-grotrp method. We find a magnetic first-order phase transition; the magnetization curve showsa discontinuity at a critical field hc. Dtre to the partial integralcility, tlae low-field curve and thehigh-field curve each correspond to a part of the magnetization curve of the S : jXXZ chain.We concltrde that the obtained magnetization curve is exact in the whole range of the rnagneticfi.ld.
