The mechanism of dipolar complexation involving TBP and three long chain aliphatic alcoholsnamely 1-hexanol, l-heptanol, l-octanol in a non-polor medium (benzene) was investigated fromdielectric measurements at frequency 455 kHz and at tenuperature 303.16 K using modified Palit'smethod. The dipole moment of the complex (p5.), interaction dipole mornent (,47?), dipolemoment of the H-bonded bridge (p') and induced polarization (,47') for the thermodynamicallymost favoured geometry of l:l complexes of these systems were computed. The results showsthat cornplexation is due to partial proton transfer in all the cases studied and the tendency ofcornplex formation is maximum in 1-heptanol systeun.
