The Anomaly in the Knight Shift vs Susceptibility Plot of ^<31>P NMR in (Ce_xLa_<1-x>)P

Systematic "P NMR studies have been made on (Ce.rLat IMP (.r l: 1.00, 0.90, 0.10, 0.02)using powders obtained from high-quality single crystals. For CeP, previously reported strongnon-linearity of the Knight shift vs susceptibility plot, with an order of magnitude larger couplingconstant ATIII of the transferred hyperfine interaction (THI) at higher temperatures than atlower temperatures, has been confirmed to be an intrinsic property, For mixed systems, NMRspectra are composed of almost equally spaced several peaks. Detailed analyses of the spectrahave shown that only the lst-nearest-neighbor Ce tons contribute dominantly to the THI of"P in both the dense (I : 1.00, 0.90) and the dilute (.r : 0.10, 0.02) systems. Despite thisshort-ranged THI, ATHI varies dramatically between the two systems in quite a different way forthe lower and the higher temperatures. Hence the large difference between the lower-'Z' and thehigher-V' ATIII in CeP becornes only a factor of xI.T difference in the dilute systems.
