Torque Study of Layered Superconducting Oxide Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_<8+δ> Single Crystal

Magnetic anisotropy of layered superconducting oxide Bi.Sr.CaCu.0.., singlecrystal was investigated by torque measurements at 77 K. A hysteresis loop with asharp cusp was found for the magnetic fields below about 6 kOe close to the a#-plane.It can be satisfactorily explained by assuming that the component of diamagneticmoment perpendicular to the aZ>-plane is induced by the applied external field. Infact, the field and angular dependence of the cusp is ruled well by the relation H cos0=Hc., where Hc. is the critical field perpendicular to the a#-plane at which the flux-pinning decreases abruptly with increasing field.high-temperature superconducting oxide, magnetic anisotropy, torque measure-ments, flux pinning effect, Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-0 single crystal, lower critical field
