Destruction of Superdiffusivity of Hydrogen in Vanadium by the Applied Electric Field

Superdiffusivities of hydrogen in vanadium and niobium decrease by one order ofmagnitude by the application of electric field. Analyses of the experimental data havebeen carried out on the basis of the Kondo and Yamada et at. theory. The magnitudeof the interaction between proton and conduction electrons in vanadium designatedby K is estimated to be 0.24. This is compared with K=0.3 of jt" in copper estimatedby Kondo. Calculation of the diffusivity as a function of the strength of applied electric field has been carried out and shown to be in good agreement with experiment.
