Nondestructive propagation of solitons is described in a nonlinear, electricaltransmission line having loss and inhomogeneity. According to its nonlinearproperty expressed in terms of the [P-[1]-th power, the transmission line demandsa certain balance between the magnitude of loss or activity and inhomogeneityto preserve a unique soJiton form of sech"' with exponentially varying amplitude. The adiabatic amplification effect for waves propagating in the line is consideredby estimating their conserved quantities. The theoretical anticipation is confirmedby several numerical calculations. It is also shown that, for P>4, it seems thatsolitons never travel stably in the real nonlinear transmission line.
