The characteristics of the equilibrium of a currer?t carrying plasutaa of a circularcross section with a noma-planar uaaagnetic axis are studied analytically. The dis-placement of the plasnaaa column in couaaparision with a geomtatrical axis of thesystem is derived. It is shown that the external unag;netic field is required to main-tain the equibribrium position of the plasma Cl)IUIIIII at desired values. Thestability conditions of Ml-10 iuastabijities of the ?>Iasnua column with a straighthelical magnetic axis are deterznind by making u;;e of the negative V " criterionand the energy priciple.
