Construction of an Embedded-Atom Potential for an Immiscible Cu-V System

A realistic many-body potential based on the embedded atom method is derived for an equilibrium immiscible Cu-V system by fitting some physical properties of the nonequilibrium B2 CuV and Ll_2 Cu_3V phases determined by ab initio calculations. With the constructed potential, the total energies and the lattice constants of not only the B2 CuV and Ll_2 Cu_3V, but also the Bl CuV and D0_19 hep Cu3V phases were reproduced/calculated and were in good accordance with those obtained from ab initio calculations.
