We develop a general theory of Fermi liqttids to disctrss tlae Kadowaki-Woods relation A CXI 'y'between the coefficient A of the T' term in the resistivity o " : AT' and '7 of the specific heatC = 7T at low tetnperatttres. We derive a formula for the ratio A/'7' which is expressed asa product of two diuaaensionless parauaaeters a arnd F, where a represents a coupling constantfor quasiparticle scattering and F is a geoznetric f'actor determined by the shape of the Fermistrrface. Then xve argue that the ttniversal ratio 177' : 1.0 X 10 'pQcm(uno1K/mJ)' observedin heavy fermion conapotrnds is reprodttced trnder tlue conditions a x l and F x 20. Theforraaer is regarded as a trnixxersality of Fernai liqtrids in a strong cotrpling regirme, and the latteris corroborated by evaltrating F definitely in simple cases. It is noted that the proportionalrelation is .just an example of the trniversal phenomena to be expected for the whole class ofstrong cotrpling Ferraai liqtrids.
