A model to sttrdy the internal dynamics of a protein and of water molecules interacting with theprotein is presented in a preceding paper. To check the trseftrlness of the tnodel, an oligopeptidesurrounded by three different water configtrrations is chosen as a test case. The internal rnotionsof the peptide and of' the water molecules are examined tusing normal mode analysis. In addition, changes in the internal dynamics and positions of the solvating molecules dtre to amino acidsubstitutions in the peptide are investigated. Information about the relationship between thestrength of a hydrogen bond and its effect on the vibrational freqtrencies of the water moleculesparticipating in hydrogen bonding is derived showing that this tnodel is practical for studyinginternal motions of each molectrle in a taatrlti-tnolectrle systena.
