We have demonstrated the existence of zaaetastable excited rhodarnine 11101(2CLll2YI ions whencreated in laser desorption ionization. Rhodaraaine tons xvere stored in a rf' ion tr;xp, and pho-todissoci?ttion was trsed to probe the rtaetastable population as a ftrnction of trapping tinae. Frornthe dependence of the poptzlation decaxy on butter gas presstzre and by extrapolsxting it to zeropresstrre we have obtained the lif'etittae of the ztaetastable st?tte of' the ions in isolated condition.
