Using the previotrsly developed order-paranaeter model of liqtrid-solid nucleation of bcc elements[J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 65 (1996) 23114, we calctmlate variotrs thermodynamic functions of liqtrid-solidinterface and the tenaperattrre dependence of the effective strrface tension of critical ntrclei insupercooled liquid metals. The restmlts are compared with the diffuse interface model of Sp?tepen[Solid State Physics 47 (1994) 1] and Gran, isy [J. Non-Cryst. Solids 162 (1993) 3014. It is shownthat tlae assurnption made in the difl'trse interf'ace model is qualitatively correct in the orderparameter model. However, the tenaperature coefficient of the effective strrface tension becornespositive in the difl'use interface rnodel, while it becornes negative in the order-paranaeter model. It is suggested that the ternperature dependence is detertaained from a delicate balance of' theinterfacial entropy and the entropy of fusion.
