Lattice Dynamics in CeB_6 Studied by Neutron-Scattering and Specific-Heat Measurements

abseLattice dynamics of CeB_6 has been studied. by an inelastic neutron scattering experiment. The acoustic and optical modes of dispersion curves are measured in the high symmetry directions of the crystal by the triple-axis spectrormeters. Flat low-frequency Ce-modes are similar as in LaB_6 but about 1 meV lower in energy than those in LaB_6. Those little differences of the flat modes between CeB_6 and LaB_6 explain the so-called magnetic specific heat anomaly at around 40 K in CeB_6 reported previously.
