Influence of Dislocations on Positron Lifetime in Iron

To clarify 'rnedivrzn' lifetimes of xl50 ps in defortned iron, we calctrlate the positron [if'etirnesat the core of dislocations and related defects in iron. The c?tlculations are based on an ernpirica[N-body interatomic potential 1.cy Finrtis and Sinclair for the ;rtonaic arrangeunents and the local-density approxinuation for the positron -electron correlation. We find the positron lif'etin?e f'orvacancies associated with edge dislocation to be the uneditrrrr Iifetirne, while that for vacanciesassociated with screw dislocation is alzauost the saraue as the single-vacar?cy value. The positronlifetiunes for pure dislocations and for .jogged dislocations are close to the perfect-lattice vztltre.
