The yields of o and m luminescence due to self-trapped excitons have been measured uponthe three-photon excitation (TPE) which gives rise to the resonance on the upper branch of thelowest exciton-polariton in Nail and Kl. Both the o arxd 7T' luminescence are induced by theTPE in the whole wavelength range of the resonance, and the yield of the o luminescence relativeto that of the m luminescence is as high as that by the conventional band-to-band excitation, showing strong contrast to the result of the one-photon excitation (DPE) spectroscopy. Thedifferent feature of the a-luminescence excitation in TPE from that in DPE has been discussed.
