Magnetic and Transport Properties of Ce_3Au_<3-x>Pt_xSb_4

Lattice parameter, electrical resistivity p, Hall constant Rn and magnetic susceptibility X havebeen measured for Ce3Au3 .Pt.Sb,j (r : 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1,5, 2.25, 3.0). It is found that the alloysfor all x show serniconducting behavior. The magnetic susceptibilities for all x obey the Curie-Weiss law at high temperatvtres and the effective magnetic moments are close to the valtme forthe free Ce" Ton. The paramagnetic Curie temperature increases with increasing x. Frorn theresults of the analysis based on a model of a rnixture of Ce" and Ce" ions in Ce3Au3 .Pt.Sb,j,it is revealed that the concentration of Ce" at low temperatures increase continuously with xand the paramagnetic Curie temperature is directly related to the activation energy betweence" (J = o) anct ce" (t = 5/2).
