A study is made of tlue sine-Gordon model with random amplitude bearing the lattice pinningpotential and the random pinning potential, tusing the variational-replica method developed bylVIc4zard and Parish. We find the existence of the critical strength of disorder below xvhich tlaelong-range translational order of the lattice is xnaintained and above which the replica-symmetryis broken. It is shown that the replica-symmetry breaking leads to the vanishing of the mass dueto the lattice pinning potential. A phase diagram in the ternperattmre-disorder plane is discussed.
