Using standard microwave techniques, the dielectric constant e' and dielectric losse" for dilute solutions of Dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO) in benzene and car-bontetrachloride (CCI.) have been measured at 9.174 GHz at different temperatures(25, 30, 35 and 40'C). Following the single frequency concentration variationalmethod suggested by Gopalakrishana, the dielectric relaxation time r and dipole mo-ment p at various temperatures have been calculated. Based on above studies, monomer structure for DMSO in both the solutions have been inferred. The presenceof solute-solvent association in both the solutions have been proposed. Dielectricrelaxation process can be treated as the rate process just like the viscous flow process.Energy parameters for the dielectric relaxation process have been calculated and corn-pared with the corresponding energy parameters for the viscous flow.
