Vertex Correction to RPA and Superconductivity in the Two-Dimensional Hubbard Model

In the two-dimensional Hubbard model with the electron density nearly half-filled,RPA treatments resulted in #-wave superconductivity. We study how a vertex correc-tion affects electronic self-energy part, thereby, superconducting transition temperalure. The normal state self-energy part is estimated at the lowest temperature whichcan be reached numerically. The anomalous self-energy part is assumed to be frequency independent but its momentum dependence is determined without any restriclions. It has a large amplitude near the Fermi line and a #-wave symmetry, since thereare strong scatterings near momentum transfers Q=('rx, f n), lattice constant beingtaken to be unity. The vertex correction enhances these scatterings to increase the Iransition temperature by several times. The effective mass is also increased by a few per-cent. The frequency dependence of the anomalous self-energy part is found to give asmall correction.
