Electron motion is studied analytically and numerically. In the framework of thedrift approximation, the electron motion is given by the sum of the E X B- and V7B-drifts, The V7B drift is anti-parallel to the 7".X B drift (E... is the Iongitudiuaal electricfield). For a strong magnetic field, the E. X B drift dominates in the shock region. Fullelectron dynamics is then numerically studied, and basic patterns of electron motionare presented. For a rather strong magnetic field (co.. >u..), the E. X B-drifL speed canbe close to the speed of light, and relativistic effects become ixnportant. Energies ofenergetic electrons are found to oscillate with amplitudes of thcc order of the electronrest mass energy. Qualitative explanation is given for the relaLivistic energy oscillalion.
