• On the basis of very general considerations, a semi-empirical formula for A bin-ding energy in hypernuclei has been obtained. The parameters in the formula havebeen fixed from a 7' fitto the B. of the heavier 7t-shell hypernuclei (A >8). The A bin-ding in ')S and spallation hypernuclei (60<.4< 100) predicted by the formula arefairly close to their respective experimental values. The empirical value of D. turnsout to be 31.6 MeV. The analysis further shows that on account of the large uncertainties of the B. data, empirical value of D. can not be uniquely determined. However,the value of D. is definitely smaller than D..
