Correlations in relative (energy-weighted) distance between hadrons and elec-tromagnetic particles are studied in the families observed in Chacaltaya emulsionchamber experiment. It is found that the observed number of hadrons which accompany electromagnetic in very close vicinity, say< l mm, is far larger than that in thebackground distribution. The chance probability to have such large number ofshower-accompanied hadrons, expected from background calculation, is found to benegligibly small,< 10 ', and it means there exists anomalous correlation betweenhadrons and electromagnetic particles in the characteristic spread of atmospheric elec-tromagnetic cascade. The results are also compared with those of Japan-USSR jointchamber exposed at Pamir observatory.
