Theory of Aharonov-Bohm Effect in Small Normal Metals

A theory of the conductance oscillation with flux period hc/e in a small normalmetal ring with long leads is developed. We find that (i) the oscillation is stronglyaffected by leads, and (ii) the magnitude of the conductance fluctuations of the ringdepends crucially on size and material of the ring and leads. The temperaturedependence of the oscillation is consistent with experiments.
