The line shape functions and the first, second and third moments of the .4-absorp-lion and .4-emission bands in KCI:Tl"-type phosphors have been investigated in con-sideration of the spin-orbit interaction and the electron-lattice interaction with threevibrational modes cv.,(0.), e,(0., Q.) and r..(Q., Q, Q.) within the Condon andFranck-Condon approximations. The linear and quadratic interactions are con-sidered with the anharmonic potential terms in the electron-lattice interaction. In theapproximation that the adiabatic potential energy surfaces are described as thequadratic terms of the interaction modes Q around their minimum points, the secondand third moments of the A -emission band for the tetragonal distortion are expressedby using the coordinates of the minimum point and the coefficients of the quadraticterms of Q.
