Neutron Diffraction Study of Helimagnet (Ba_<1-x>Sr_x)_2Zn_2Fe_<12>O_<22>

Neutron diffraction experiments were carried out on a single crystal of(Ba. .Sr,).Zn.Fe..0.., ,v=0.748, at 77 and 296 K. The turn angle of the helix, cf.., is81.6' at 77 K and 135' at 296 K. The helix consists of large and small ferrimagneticspin-bunches separated by an angle of cfa./ 2 in the c-plane. Their magnitudes are 4.32p and 0.32 jt, respectively. Here, p is the magnetic moment per Fe ion: 7t=4.66 7t. at77 K and p = 1.86 p. at 296 K. These results are discussed from a point of view of thesuper-exchange interaction.
