Two dimensional equilibria of field reversed configuration with plasma outsidethe seraratrix is investisated. B>' numerical calculation, it is found that theseparatrix (p=0) becomes spindly as fi. (beta ratio op the surface p=0) increases.Remarkable is that the stu'face p:0 becomes an open surface and no more theseparatrix as p. increases be>'ond a critical value, and furthermore, that onlvaxially uniform configurations are obtained when fi. is greater than a secondcritical value. Ekistence or the .critica] values or jt. can t>e explained also withuse of a long thin plasma model and a condition of axial force balance which takesinto account the plasma outsia.e the separatrix. The critical values obtained withthis model well agree with the two dimensional numerical results as well as radiiof the plasma both at the center plane and at the ends of vessel.
