By making use of the transport theory, the emergence-angle-dependent energylosses of high energy ions are calculated. It is emphasized that we must take intoaccount the scattering by the atomic electrons as well as the nucleus to discuss thescattering-angle-dependent energy loss in a single collision with the target atom. The treatment of the problem is devided into the following three cases; a) largeatomic number case of the target material (for example copper), b) medium(aluminum, etc.) and c) small (beryllium, etc.). The dependence on foil thicknessand emergence angle of the theoretical value of the emergence-angle-dependentenergy loss agrees well with the experimental results.
