Weak Ferromagnetism and Antifeoopmagnetism in the Insulator Phase of NiS_<2-x>Se_x with pyrite Structure

Magnetic and neutron diffraction measurements were made on sintered sampleswith .v=0-0.55. We investigated the relation between weak ferromagnetism andtwo types of antiferromagnetism (the first kind=M1, the second kind=M2, off.c.c.). It was found that Ml and M2 orderings coexist whenever weak ferro-magnetism appears. The critical concentrations for weak ferromagnetism and M2ordering were found to coincide with each other, and it was determined to be0.3. This value is considerably smaller than that at the insulator-metal phaseboundary (0.5). Weak ferromagnetism and M2 ordering were found only in theinsulator phase, not in the metallic phase. Some discussion is given on the com-position dependence of weak ferromagnetic moment.
