Ion-Density Correlations and Enhancement of Thermonuclear Reaction Rate in Dense,Inertially Confined Fusion Plasmas

The infer-ionic density correlations and the associated screening potential areinvestigated for those dense, high-temperature plasmas with parameters appro-priate to the inertially confined fttsion experiments attd the interior of main-sequettce stars. The hypernetted claain scheme is used for the analysis of thecorrelations, where the screening effect of the electrons is taken into account via thedielectric function with inclusion of partial degeneracy and the local-field correc-Lion. We derive explicit auaalytic expressions for the enhancement rate of thermo-nuclear reactions applicable ttniformly over the entire parameter domain ofplasmas with the ionic charge Z= l and 2.
