The Stokes flow due to the translation of a small particle in arbitrary directionsis investigated in the presence of a circular disk. The solutions of the boundaryvalue problem are obtained in closed form to the point force approximation, bythe use of the Green and Neumann functions supplemented by the edge functionto remove the singularity at the rim of the disk. The force and torque experiencedby the particle are determined on the basis of these solutions.
