EPR Study of Cu^<2+> Ions in Single Ctystal of Strontium Formate Dihydrate

Electron paramagnetic resortance of Cu" ion in Sr(HCOO).-2H.0 weremeasured at room temperature. The spectrum was interpreted in terms of Jahn-Teller effect. Cu" is found to be incorporated both interstitially arid substitu-tionally. The substitutional Cu" is found to be in nearly cubic environment andF, distortion is responsible for Jalm-Teller effect. The interstitial Cu" findsitself in octahedral field which undergoes Jahn-Teller splitting due to T. coupling.
