Several facts showing that stability heterogeneity along DNA double-strandhas a remarkable positional correlation with the jistribution of genes are presented.The distribution of physical stability of the double-helix seerns to play some rolein the genetic function of DNA, and/or may be a relic of the past recombination.In any case, the authors would like to suggest that the full understanding of thegenetic function of DNA may not be achieved without a detailed study of 'physi-cat property map' along its long molecular thread.
