The effect of a magnetic field on the nuclear reaction rates between heavycharged particles in a fully ionized gas is theoretically investigated. The physics of the collision occurring between a pair of colliding chargedparticles is clarified by tracing the trajectories of the particles in the magneticfield. First, an expression of the relative velocity between the colliding particles isobtained, and then the equation of the collision frequency for the nuclear reactionis derived. Consequently it is indicated that the nuclear reaction rate in the pre-sence of the magnetic field may be less than that in the absence of the 'magneticfield.
