The elastic stiffnesses C.., C.., C.. and C..=(C.. -C..)/2 of both singledomain (SD) and multidomain (MD) Lilac. crystals were measured between20 and 700'C by the ultrasonic phase comparison method. The stiffnesses C(.(i=1, 4 and 6) of the MD crystal were larger than C? of the SD crystal, respec-tively, while C'.. of the MD crystal, which was smaller than C';. of the SD crystal, was equal to C',.. In the paraelectric phase C? (i=1, 3, 4 and 6) decreased Iinearlywith increasing temperature, except for near T.. In the ferroelectric phase, non-linear temperature dependence of C? (i=1, 4 and 6) can be accounted for by theelectrostrictive interaction. On the other hand, weak temperature dependenceof Cg. -C's. below 500'C and marked change in C';. -C's. between 500'C andT. may be related to higher order interaction and fluctuation of spontaneous po-larization, respectively.
