On the Angular Distribution of ^8Li in ^9Be(π^-,πN)^8Li at P_beam=1.0,3.0,and 4.0 GeV/c

Angular distributions of recoil 'Li in the 'Beam , nN)'Li reaction have beenmeasured at P.....(x )=l.O, 3.0, and 4.0 GeV/c with solid state track detector(SSTD). At 1.0 and 3.0 GeV/c, the heavy-fragment knockout process explainsthe major feature of the data, whereas at 4.0 GeV/c a characteristic sideways peak-ing is observed at around 0..5:3O'. The latter phenomenon shows that anothereffects must begin to occtur at around 4.0 GeV/c. The "C, "N, "0-+'Li, 'Bspallation reactions by x mesons (background reactions) have also been meas-ured. They are mainly due to the intra-nuclear cascade and evaporation pro-NUCLEAR REACTIONS 'Be(z-, mN)'[1, "C, "N, "0e'Li, 'B; phonsof 1.0, 3.0 and 4.0 GeV/c; measured o(0) of recoil 'Li; Quasi-free knockoutcalculations, Nuclear shock wave calculations, Intra-nuclear cascade andevaporation model. Exp.-theor. comparison; SSTD employed.
