The contrast effect of the electron microscopic image at crystal defects ischaracterized by two parameters; extinction distance and absorption distance. Both quantities are originally defined for the elastic scattering. Since the inelasticscattering contributes to the electron microscopic image, parameters used for theinterpretation of the images are not the same as those for the elastic scattering. It is shown that the difference of absorption distance between the theoreticalestimation and that used for interpretation is due to the contrast effect of thesmall angle inelastic scattering.
